As Toriyama's first weekly series, Dr. Slump became a huge commercial success. It was popular from the beginning and made into a anime series as fast as possible. Slump, about a goofy scientist and his inventions including a hyper-active robot named Arale, would go on to be one of the most popular mangas of all time. The series is made up of 18 volumes.
